MC's Quest for THE Perfect Mascara: Cargo Texas Lash Mascara

My name is MC, and I have a horrible addiction to mascara. O_O

Ever since Maybelline discontinued the 2 best mascaras ever made (Illegal Lengths and Lash by Lash), I have tried almost EVERY mascara known to man from drugstores to department stores to Sephora to Ebay in search of what I lost in mascara love. I try a new one (or 3) every 3 months...so I will be doing a series of mascara reviews entitled "MC'S Quest for THE Perfect Mascara" in my on going mission to finally settle down and find something I will use again.

I shall review the one of the current mascaras I am using: Cargo Texas Lash.

Cargo Texas Lash is yet another entry in the world of "tubular"mascara. You know, the kind of mascara that forms tubes around your lashes and comes off easily with a little pressure and some make up remover? It claims to be smudge proof, flake proof, and non runny...

MC's verdict: Epic. Fail. I TRIED to like it, but Cargo Texas Lash is no Blinc Kiss Me Mascara. Texas Lash was extremely clumpy and dried far too quickly. I couldn't even get a lash comb through my lashes to get out the clumps!!! The slightest touch to the eye and the mascara flaked off, leaving little black flakes in it's wake. It does live up to it's word about not being runny or smudging....because it feels like you are applying TAR to your lashes.

If you want to go the Tubular mascara route, stick with Blinc. While it doesn't give me the OMG lash volume I like, it is a wonderful mascara that goes on smooth, wears well, and comes off when you WANT it to come off.

And by all means, if you have any suggestions on mascara, I am all ears....well, just as long as you don't suggest Maybelline Great Lash Mascara lol. ^_^

What Greedy Hands Want: Too Faced Smoky Eye Palette

While I was browsing through Sephora's website tonight, I came across this new eye kit from Too Faced and was instant “OMG I WANT!!!” I love a good smoky eye palette and this seems to have a lot of versatile colors in one place to create the perfect smoky eye every time.

I'm a sucker for a sexy smoky eye and I love Too Faced shadows..and $32 for 9 shadows is a pretty good deal. I haven't been too excited about many Too Faced sets since Christmas, so seeing this was a rush of "Ooooh...pretty new set to get. *_*"

A Trip Down Memory Lane to Begin Things...

Yay..first post on my blog!!! ^_^

I thought long and hard what I wanted my very first post to be about when it came to this blog. Did I want to do a product review? Did I want to talk about something I utterly love or loathed? Well, after much thought, I decided my first blog post here would be about how I became the cosmetics whore I am today. ^_^

Makeup and beauty products have always fascinated me. When I was a little girl, I would watch my mom as she got ready to go out somewhere: A sweep of Avon Paradise Pink blush on the cheeks, purple eye shadow on her lids, and a touch of rose coloured lipstick. My mother was (and still is) an avid Avon lover. She used to give me the little lipstick samples she got and I smeared them over my lips and would cover my wallpaper with lipstick kisses. Everything about make up fascinated me…the compacts, the textures of eye shadow, the finishes of lipstick…and it still fascinates me to this day.

I have vivid memories of playing dress up with my gal pal who lived across the street from me. We would make ourselves up with hand me downs from her grandmother and mom from Clinique, Shine free, and our own Tinkerbell (lol..peel on, peel off BoPo nail polish) and My Sweet 16 (click to see the commercial) make up. As I hit my pre-teen years, I spent a lot of time at the CVS near my house blowing my allowance on Maybelline Kissing Koolers, Wet n Wild eyeshadows, and longed for the day I could like actually afford to buy high end cosmetics.

When I hit 15 and received a substantial raise in allowance (as well as babysitting money), I hit the Filene's counters splurged for the first time on a tube of Clinique Black Lily lipstick and Chanel Vamp nail polish. The rage in my high school was Revlon ColorStay lipstick in Chocolate, so I did that for a while. Urban Decay and Hard Candy (I am still a huge Urban Decay fan) came out around 1995 and the only way I was able to get my hands on those crazy nail polishes was to order them via the phone..which I did. Needless to say, I was a total cosmetics whore by then lol.

I have a million stories about my crazy adventures on the path to makeup love that I will share between reviews, lusts, loathes and rants. I hope you stick around and read it all and don't be afraid to comment. ^_^

Kisses,
