A Trip Down Memory Lane to Begin Things...

Yay..first post on my blog!!! ^_^

I thought long and hard what I wanted my very first post to be about when it came to this blog. Did I want to do a product review? Did I want to talk about something I utterly love or loathed? Well, after much thought, I decided my first blog post here would be about how I became the cosmetics whore I am today. ^_^

Makeup and beauty products have always fascinated me. When I was a little girl, I would watch my mom as she got ready to go out somewhere: A sweep of Avon Paradise Pink blush on the cheeks, purple eye shadow on her lids, and a touch of rose coloured lipstick. My mother was (and still is) an avid Avon lover. She used to give me the little lipstick samples she got and I smeared them over my lips and would cover my wallpaper with lipstick kisses. Everything about make up fascinated me…the compacts, the textures of eye shadow, the finishes of lipstick…and it still fascinates me to this day.

I have vivid memories of playing dress up with my gal pal who lived across the street from me. We would make ourselves up with hand me downs from her grandmother and mom from Clinique, Shine free, and our own Tinkerbell (lol..peel on, peel off BoPo nail polish) and My Sweet 16 (click to see the commercial) make up. As I hit my pre-teen years, I spent a lot of time at the CVS near my house blowing my allowance on Maybelline Kissing Koolers, Wet n Wild eyeshadows, and longed for the day I could like actually afford to buy high end cosmetics.

When I hit 15 and received a substantial raise in allowance (as well as babysitting money), I hit the Filene's counters splurged for the first time on a tube of Clinique Black Lily lipstick and Chanel Vamp nail polish. The rage in my high school was Revlon ColorStay lipstick in Chocolate, so I did that for a while. Urban Decay and Hard Candy (I am still a huge Urban Decay fan) came out around 1995 and the only way I was able to get my hands on those crazy nail polishes was to order them via the phone..which I did. Needless to say, I was a total cosmetics whore by then lol.

I have a million stories about my crazy adventures on the path to makeup love that I will share between reviews, lusts, loathes and rants. I hope you stick around and read it all and don't be afraid to comment. ^_^

Kisses,
~MC <3
